Planning consent secured for 40MW Landown Farm battery storage project - Enray Power

Enray Power has secured planning consent on 30th May 2025 for a 40MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at Landown Farm, near Findern in Derbyshire.

The three-hectare development will provide additional energy storage capacity to support the flexibility and resilience of the electricity network, while enabling diversification of an established local family farming and rural business complex.

Supporting a resilient rural business

Landown Farm has been developed as part of the long-term diversification of the existing farming and rural business complex, creating an additional use for the land alongside its established activities.

The project also benefits from a nearby grid connection, helping to minimise the need for extensive cabling works on the public highway and associated disruption during construction.

Going beyond mandatory biodiversity requirements

Biodiversity enhancement has been incorporated into the design of the project, with measures proposed that go beyond the mandatory 10% biodiversity net gain requirement.

Under the biodiversity net gain metric, the proposals are expected to deliver a 100.20% net gain in habitat units and an 18.38% net gain in hedgerow units.

These improvements will create and enhance habitats alongside the energy storage infrastructure, ensuring the relatively compact three-hectare development also delivers measurable benefits for the local environment.
